‘That’s Limerick’ is a ten minute production, shot and edited by Pallaskenry based Matt Kelly Productions featuring a host of Limerick attractions across the city and county. It was launched by Mayor of Limerick, Cllr Jim Long, in the Savoy Hotel this evening.
Matt Kelly and his team filmed hundreds of locations across Limerick and the DVD includes segments on retail therapy, relaxation, fashion, attractions, food, music, sport and nightlife against a soundtrack of talented local bands such as Windings, Size2Shoes and Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters.
A number of familiar Limerick faces are featured speaking about Limerick life including Eleanor Fitzgerald (shopping), Celia Holman Lee (fashion/style), Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin (music), Lorraine Fanneran (La Cucina), Richard Lynch (ilovelimerick.com), Paul O’Connell (sport) and Leonie Lynch (nightlife) .’That’s Limerick’ is voiced by local actor Liam O’Brien.
Speaking at the launch, Mayor of Limerick, Cllr Jim Long said he believed ‘That’s Limerick’ will be a very useful promotional tool.
“We have so much to offer in Limerick and with this new DVD, visitors can enjoy a taste of Limerick life before they even arrive!” he said. “Congratulations to the Limerick Communications Office and Matt Kelly Productions on this lovely production which is a bright and buzzy portrayal of the Limerick we all know and love. I’m delighted that our friends across the water in Limerick, Pennsylvania will also get a chance to see it on their television stations and I’m sure all those who view it whether in Ireland or around the world will be enticed to visit our wonderful historic city.”
Conference organisers are welcome to use ‘That’s Limerick’ during their events in the region. Copies are also being supplied to hotels, restaurants and third level institutions in the Mid-West and the University of Limerick International Office for the promotion of Limerick to prospective students.
Welcoming the launch of ‘That’s Limerick’, Karen Brosnahan, Business Manager, Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau said:
“When selling Limerick to conference and sports event organisers you need to showcase all that Limerick has to offer, sometimes without the client having had the chance to experience it first-hand,” she said. “This DVD is a great introduction to life in Limerick and what Limerick as a business and sports tourism destination has to offer.”
Speaking at the launch, Limerick Communications office spokesperson Laura Ryan paid tribute to those who contributed their time to the production.
“We would like to particularly thank all the musicians who allowed us to use their music on the DVD, the Savoy and Strand Hotels where a lot of the footage was shot and the people of Limerick who gave their time to help us showcase Limerick,” she said. “We are also very grateful to Matt Kelly and Marian Malone of Matt Kelly Productions for their dedication to the project.”
‘That’s Limerick’ will also feature in a new In Limerick hotel channel promoting all the great things for hotel guests to experience in Limerick and a reason to come back. The channel is currently being piloted in the Absolute Hotel and will be launched in hotels throughout the city and county next month.
