Since its establishment in 2001, the Limerick Communications Office has proactively promoted Limerick, highlighting the positive developments taking place in the Mid-West.
LCO initiatives include:
- Appointment of the first Communications Executive to promote a positive image of Limerick
- A Riverside City branding campaign to improve the image of Limerick
- Pioneering the first Street Ambassador Programme in Ireland
- Appointment of an Events Company to attract and facilitate events
- The organisation of festivals like the Limerick St Patrick’s Festival and Riverfest
- The first Limerick Riverside Market
- Erection of a big screen for major sporting events like the Heineken Cup Final
- Culture Limerick radio campaign
- Publication of City Matters magazine
- Media monitoring and handling media queries
